During these winter months you need to keep a check on the hives, not only for damage caused by high winds, falling branches and woodpecker damage. But also the food stores, lift the hive gentle from behind to check to see if it feels light. During the cold weather of winter and spring I feed fondant. I take it out of the
packaging and place in plastic food cartons. You can see in the pictures that I place the carton upside down on the crown board over the middle hole. The last picture shows the bees feeding on the fondant.
